Delhi High Court's order (FAO No. 205/92) dated 18.11.1998 which stated that any legally established institution that provides educational services in the field of alternative medicine may issue diplomas or certificates, and that those who possess them are permitted to practise in the specific faculty or faculties covered by the diplomas or certificates in question.The Planning Commission Report, the Chennai High Court's decision, and the government's letter (No. 110/8/4/77MPT/ME(P)1979 & No. 4-6/70 MPT) all state that AM certificate holders may only practise alternative medicine. In any case, he is not permitted to do surgery, obstetrics, or radiation therapy. He is not permitted to prescribe any drugs under the "G," "H," or "L" of the Drugs & Cosmetic Rules of 1945 or any other dangerous drugs.
